How Crystal Mountain's Spam Filter Works

We have implemented SpamAssassin on our servers for users that want their SPAM to be tagged for easy sorting or bouncing Spam messages back to the sender. The cost of this service is $2.00 per mailbox filtered per month.

SpamAssassin typically differentiates successfully between spam and non-Spam in between 95% and 99% of cases, depending on what kind of mail you get.

If you currently have our server-side Spam protection you can adjust it to meet your needs. You can access the interface at https://sam.safepages.com/sam.pl . You can adjust the filter level based on a no tolerance level of 0 (often blocks even non spam) to high tolerance level of 10 (blocks very little). You can add people to both your white list (always allow) and your blacklist (never allow)

To differentiate Spam from non-Spam, we use the following methods: header analysis, text (body) analysis , blacklist databases including SPAMCOP, Razor's & Pyzors spam tracking database.

SPAM BOUNCE

The Bounce SPAM back to sender option will bounce all SPAM back to the sender with the message that the email they sent exceeded your Spam threshold settings. They will then be prompted to email you if the message is legit and request that they be added to your white list.

We automatically add the bounce feature when setting up the Spam filter for you. You may need to email us at support@crystal-mtn.com if you wish to remove the bounce feature.
